Top 5 Wednesday: Books I Didn’t (Or Wish I Didn’t) Finish

Two days in a row! It must be a record. This week’s topic is actually really interesting for me because I have a hard time dropping something before I finish it. My thought process behind this is usually that I spent the (insert random price here) on the book and I should at least get my money’s worth before I chuck it on the discard pile. Recently, this has been a real drain on my reading enthusiasm because a lot of my choices have been duds so I’m forcing myself to read terrible book after terrible book. The alternative would be dropping 10-15 books a year that probably comes to about $100 I could’ve put to better use elsewhere. Its a lose-lose situation I suppose. This post will memorialize the few books that were so bad, I just COULDN’T finish them, no matter how much I tried and those books I wish from the bottom of my heart I could’ve forced myself to burn.

I’m having such a hard time sitting down and writing blog posts and it’s KILLING me. I don’t want this blog to fall into obscurity like several of my other attempts but it’s like I’m losing interest. Between school and my job, my life is pretty much go, go, go and finding the energy to write even Top 5 Wednesday posts and Top Ten Tuesday posts is hard. Help keep my motivated guys. Please!

This week’s topic is my top 5 author discoveries for the year. I’ve had a bad reading year overall, but there were several authors that did stand out to me that helped me to get past the majority of my reading struggles. A couple of them have even made my favorite authors list!

Top 5 Wednesday: Banned Books I’ve Read

Top Five Wednesday

Hello everyone! Long time no see. I’ve been crazy busy and I’m so upset that I’ve basically been AWOL for the last week. I’m currently being trained for another position at my job, so my hours have almost  doubled on top of going to school full time. Now the only time I have free time is when I sleep :’D This isn’t a permanent change, fortunately, so I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled programming in about two weeks, but before then I’m going to be popping in and out infrequently. On top of all of this, I’m reading a really mediocre book and I’m struggling to finish  it. I’ve well and truly convinced myself I’m cursed. God just doesn’t want me to be happy with my reading choices this year. Hopefully I’ll be done with it soon and I can get started on Serpentine, which came in last week, nicely signed in silver!

This week’s Top 5 Wednesday topic is banned books. As it’s banned book week, this topic is super appropriate and I love it both as a former teacher and as a reader. No matter what school district you go into, there is always going to be that one parent who throws a huge stink about a teacher’s choice of reading material for various reasons. While I never had to deal with that personally, I know how long the list of banned books has become and how there is no better way to ensure someone reads something than to ban it. As I was a rebel without a cause, I read several banned books in high school and below you’ll find a list of some of my favorites.

Top 5 Wednesday: Title Fonts on Covers

Top Five WednesdayTop 5 Wednesday is a meme created by Lainey. You can check out her Youtube channel here (which is awesome) and see upcoming topics on the Goodreads page here.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is definitely feeling like Hump Day and all I want to do is sleep in until noon tomorrow, but alas, I have school. This week’s topic is title cover fonts that we like. This one is a little strange because I don’t always notice title fonts on their own. As part of a package deal with the cover, I always have an opinion on what I like and what I don’t like, but as an aesthetic all on its own, I usually gloss over it. As I digging through my books, I noticed that the fonts that jumped out to me fell into one of two categories: fine, loopy cursive or letters shaped like symbols. Here’s my list so you can see for yourself.
