Book Review: Winter

Winter   Winter

By: Marissa Meyer

Genres: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Young Adult

Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

~From Goodreads

After a month of reading bits and pieces of it when I could, Winter has finally come to an end. While it wasn’t perfect, it managed to capture all the right high and low points that made it a fun roller coaster ride of emotions from start to finish.

Its been so loooooong. Hello again everyone! I kind of fell off the face of the earth for a while mostly because my procrastination habits caught up with me and made my last few weeks of the semester stressful and bitter. Its exam week but since classes are pretty much wrapped up, I figured it would be safe to venture back out into the real world and give my blog some much needed love.  So this week’s topic is a review of my top ten books of the year. This year was very touch and go with my reading selections. I had some that I loved and some that I REALLY hated, with more of the latter, much to my chagrin. Below is a list of my favorites in preference order.

I’m having such a hard time sitting down and writing blog posts and it’s KILLING me. I don’t want this blog to fall into obscurity like several of my other attempts but it’s like I’m losing interest. Between school and my job, my life is pretty much go, go, go and finding the energy to write even Top 5 Wednesday posts and Top Ten Tuesday posts is hard. Help keep my motivated guys. Please!

This week’s topic is my top 5 author discoveries for the year. I’ve had a bad reading year overall, but there were several authors that did stand out to me that helped me to get past the majority of my reading struggles. A couple of them have even made my favorite authors list!

I’m so excited about this topic because thinking about all of the great author team-ups that could happen makes me really want to shove said authors into a room together and MAKE them write something for my own personal gratification. I’m going to warn you now that you’re going to see my favorite authors popping up over and over again because I can’t help myself 😀

Top 5 Wednesday: Title Fonts on Covers

Top Five WednesdayTop 5 Wednesday is a meme created by Lainey. You can check out her Youtube channel here (which is awesome) and see upcoming topics on the Goodreads page here.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is definitely feeling like Hump Day and all I want to do is sleep in until noon tomorrow, but alas, I have school. This week’s topic is title cover fonts that we like. This one is a little strange because I don’t always notice title fonts on their own. As part of a package deal with the cover, I always have an opinion on what I like and what I don’t like, but as an aesthetic all on its own, I usually gloss over it. As I digging through my books, I noticed that the fonts that jumped out to me fell into one of two categories: fine, loopy cursive or letters shaped like symbols. Here’s my list so you can see for yourself.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Fall (and Winter) TBR

Top Ten Tuesday 1

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by the ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish. Click on the banner above to find out more information about the meme and to see a list of upcoming topics.

Hello everyone! It’s another week, another Tuesday. I’ve been incredibly bored the last couple of days because I actually managed to get too far ahead on my homework (I know, I’m still wondering if the real me got abducted by aliens) but my reading selections still aren’t wowing me. I decided to go back to some of my old roots and picked up a Nora Roberts romance. I’m not finding it as thrilling I used to find her books, but it’s not horrible, so I’m staying optimistic. As for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic, I’m going to be sharing some books I’m eagerly awaiting so I can add them to my monstrous TBR pile. As I don’t have enough Fall releases on my list, I’m also going to talk about some Winter 2015-2016 releases as well. This list isn’t ranked in any particular order. Hope you enjoy!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters You Just Didn’t Click With

Top Ten Tuesday 1

Happy Tuesday everyone! This week has been so hectic because I went back to school and I’m trying to readjust my sleeping schedule to “normal people” hours. I might be a little late on some of my weekly posts because of homework and my job so bear with me! Back to our scheduled programming, this week’s topic is ten characters that I just didn’t like/get.  It takes a lot for me to hate a book, but characters are a WHOLE other story. <cracks knuckles> Let’s do this.
